Are you Shy? Rejoice!
Does the thought of giving a speech in front of group of people
make you turn red up to your ears, lose your breath, make
your knees tremble so bad you think you're going fall down?
I bet you think being this shy is the worse thing in world.
Guess what? Specialists disagree with you!
Let's talk about shyness for a minute. Shyness
can make you afraid to talk with the sales person in the supermarket.
You turn red before saying the first word and speak so softly
you have to repeat every word. And to make it worse, you're
face is as red as a beet from blushing. The more you try not
to blush, the redder you become.
Horrible isn't it? There is absolutely nothing good about
being shy. Right? Wrong!
A shy person rarely gets bored, as they are always trying
to observe others and improve themselves. That is why it is
widely accepted that timid persons know a lot of things about
human character in general, even though they generally don't
interact with other people.
Shyness often keeps teenagers outside the "group", resulting
in almost no social life. This is usually a difficult time
in their lives. But this very "outside, looking in" existence
often gives them great insight into human nature, making them
great human resources manages or psychologists. A shy person
may also choose a career in public relations because they
want to prove to themselves that they can do it.
But there's another great benefit that results from being
introverted. Having a very limited circle of friends to talk
to, a shy person turns to reading or internet research to
satisfy their curiosity and find answers to their questions.
And they spend a lot of time doing it. As a result, shy people
often have an edge when it comes to landing good employment
positions.
Many successful people have recently admitted to being very
shy and introverted as teenagers. In fact, they credit their
current success to their shyness because they felt they had
something to prove to themselves. In fact, shyness has enjoyed
such fame lately that maybe the more daring among us should
take some lessons, talking less and listening more.
So, if you are shy, don't be embarrassed. Don't think something
must be wrong with you! Rejoice! Shy people are one of the
most motivated groups of people, overall, since they have
a strong, established purpose they want to achieve...overcoming
their shyness.
